ATTENTION ALL RACE FANS........

Publicist calls fans to sense of urgency

Racine, Ohio's Scott Wolfe, a life-long race fan and racing publicist for over 25 years, is calling upon the racing fraternity to join together in a call to urgency to support the sport it loves most- Motorsports and all of Dirt track racing. Wolfe noted, "Already in 2009, the famed Manzanita Speedway in Phoenix, Arizona and the Jennerstown, PA Speedway have announced they will be closed. Challenger Speedway is holding off starting the season and many other tracks have trimmed their schedules in anticipation of poor attendance. We as race fans have to take a stand now. If you lose a local track, it's very difficult to see it resurrected."

"Never would I sacrifice the needs of my family, nor would I ask anyone to do that," said Wolfe. "However, the next few years are going to be tough on racing, unless we all continue to support it. There are ways to cut back and still get to the races. Car pooling, bringing snacks, and encouraging new race fans to join in the fun."

"I work for Skyline Speedway and K-C Raceway, and I want you to support us. I wouldn't be doing a very good job if I didn't, but I know if the track down the road is prospering then most likely the state of racing will remain solvent and our tracks will also. Please get out and support your local dirt track. Once it’s gone, it's probably gone forever."

Wolfe encourages current race fans to bring new fans into racing and to get the kids involved. "If racing has a young fan base, racing will be strong for years to come," the veteran racer said. "Race drivers have to get their neighbors and their co-workers to the track. Fans have to get some other fans into the sport. That is going to be the only way to keep ticket prices down and to keep racing alive."

"Racing is still a great bargain! For between $10 and $15 bucks you can see a great racing program as opposed to some concerts and NASCAR tickets that are well in excess of $50-80. And for $30 bucks you can get in the pits and rub elbows with the stars. Anyone can! How often does the ordinary man get to go back stage at a concert or fraternize with the stars of Wrestlemania. It just doesn't happen anywhere else."

"Asking friends and asking for sponsors is like asking someone to go to church. Sometimes it is hard. Sometimes it is awkward. Having strong faith, I would ask you ask someone to church first, but if you can ask someone to a race that would be the next best thing. Besides the tracks I work at I know other promoters are going to gear their seasons on how well opening night goes. Race fans get to work; the time is now to act. Next year may be too late."

Locally Skyline is holding its ticket prices the same. Plus, Billy Jarrell is still going to let kids 12 and under in free and Senior Citizens in for $12. K-C Raceway has actually lowered the main gate from $13 to $12, plus seniors can get in for $10.

"I challenge each of you to pass along e-mails on a weekly basis and to get one new fan a week in the stands. Let's keep the sport we have and in the end it just might grow."

Skyline Speedway in Stewart, Ohio races every Friday night, beginning April 2,2010. K-C Raceway starts with a racing special on April 10 with the AMRA Road Warriors. K-C runs every Saturday night throughout the summer with the exception of a few dates.
