ATTENTION -Amended policy change for ATV's:

Due to a couple accidents last year, no four-wheelers are allowed anywhere on the K-C Raceway premises. No ATV's are permitted in the camping area, nor will they be permitted in the pits due to the anticipated overflow number of race teams. Golf carts, however, are permitted in the main parking lot and camping area only. No Golf carts in the pits. A five-mile per hour speed limit will be enforced to ensure the safety of all fans.

With an increased interest in the race and great fall weather this year, it is in the best interest of all fans and race teams to limit the congestion on speedway grounds. An earlier release indicated that four wheelers were allowed in the pits, however, that has been changed to "no four-wheelers, period."

2007 Dirt Track World Championship final preparations

By Scott Wolfe

CHILLICOTHE, OHIO-The anticipation is building, the racing forums are filled with anxious talk, and the track crew is working hard for what is expected to be the "biggest event" in Dirt Late Model racing with the running of this year's 27th annual Dirt Track World Championship October 18-19-20 at Jim Nier's K-C Raceway. The beautiful fall weather has allowed K-C personnel to make many improvements to the facility, adding fresh paint, improving logistics, and adding much new clay to the high-speed, K-C high banks.
The Speedway has purchased land adjacent to the track and has added extra drainage to the camping area, adding to the ever-growing K-C complex. Camping is allotted on a first-come, first-serve basis with 50 spots in the main area and several hundred in the adjacent field. All camping is primitive and there is no need to call to make reservations. Campers are asked to conserve space and clean up after themselves by bagging trash and observing the rights of other campers.
Due to a couple accidents last year, no four-wheelers are allowed anywhere on the premises. No ATV's are permitted in the camping area, nor will they be permitted in the pits due to the anticipated overflow number of race teams. Golf carts, however, are permitted in the main parking lot and camping area only. A five-mile per hour speed limit will be enforced to ensure the safety of all fans.
The DTWC office is handling race entries and reportedly the line-up is one of the most impressive ever with high profile drivers from all major sanctioning bodies and several yet-to-be named surprises. Not only will drivers be running for the prestige of winning the DTWC and its $50,000 pay-check, but they will also be eligible to run for the Jim Dunn Memorial non-qualifiers race and increased purse.
Modified drivers will be running for $2,500 to win and a chance to be the DTWC modified king for the next year, an honor that has bestowed Corey Conley and during the race's stay at K-C. 26 starters will race for $2,500 to win and $300 to start in the Modified main event.
Reinforced by last year's effort to get the race in, fans are reminded that barring rain at race time the race will go on if at all possible. Track management encourages fans to purchase tickets in advance to aid in transition through the admission gate and to ensure a good seat. Ticket sales are up and interest is much higher in this year's event, which has yielded two consecutive three-wide, highly contested racing to the finish at K-C's racy oval.
Fans are asked to check out K-C Raceway and its all-new playground and other important attractions for kids and adults of all ages. After the October 1 pre-sale deadline expires, tickets prices will be $50 for adult general admission, $15 children general admission ages 6-11 with children under age six admitted free for general admission.
Three-day pit passes will be $60.
Special reserved seating is also being made available for the 27th Annual Dirt Track World Championship presented by Gottarace.com. The top five rows of the grandstands, including the main grandstands and the new
grandstands in turn four will be mandated reserved seating.
K-C is south of Chillicothe on SR 23, two miles out Blain Highway at Alma. For further information, please call 740-663-4141. For ticket information, visit the K-C website at <<www.kc-raceway.com>> or call 740-289-4114, Monday - Friday 8AM to 5PM.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Interest Running Rampant For 27th Annual DTWC by GottaRace.com*

Chillicothe, OH --- “It would mean that I could buy a motorcycle and get
a tattoo!” quipped dirt Late Model star Josh McGuire of Ashland, KY when
asked what it would mean for him to win the prestigious crown jewel dirt
Late Model race, the 27th Annual Dirt Track World Championship presented
by GottaRace.com that will be held October 18-20 at Jim Nier’s KC
Raceway in Waverly, OH and promoted by DTWC founder & promoter Carl
Short. The race pays the winner $50,000.

“That is a deal I have with my wife when I win any race over $10,000!”
added McGuire, one of likely 150 or so drivers from around the country
that will descend on KC Raceway next month for a shot at big money and
big notoriety. “I look forward to the race and it helps that KC is such
a well-ran track that always seems to provide fans with an exciting
show. I like it because it is never single file!”

“The biggest challenge I face is making the show, this an elite field of
cars!” McGuire will be competing in his CJ Rayburn/GCP Engines #41
sponsored by DJ's Kitchen Corner, Baby Cat Trucking, D&C Sayler’s
Construction & Glenny Glass.

“It's one of the 'Crown Jewels’ of dirt racing! Enough said!” proclaimed
Brian Birkhofer of Muscatine, IA who drives the Rocket Chassis/Pro Power
#15b sponsored by J & J Steel, ASI Racewear, McDonald's, Simon Trucking
& Daufeldt Transport. “I look forward to getting back to KC Raceway,
it's an excellent facility when Mother Nature cooperates. My main focus
for this race is qualifying well enough so you don't use up too much
equipment to get to the front.”

There is one talented ‘young gun’ who is itching for another shot at the
race thi syear as well. “To win the Dirt Track World Championship, it
would mean that I've stepped it up a notch,” understated Jordan Bland of
Campbellsville, KY. “The DTWC is the second biggest title in dirt racing
and just to make the starting field would mean a whole lot to me.”

“We definitely look forward to this race! After leading the
non-qualifiers for most of the race until parts failure last year, it
just gave me a taste of what the DTWC really stands for. Even in all the
mud, it was a great learning experience.”

As for challenges, Bland has more than his share. “Travel is always a
challenge for me. Just starting college it is difficult for me as a
young driver to schedule classes and road trips. But the Dirt Track
World Championship is one I definitely don't want to miss.” Bland will
be racing at the DTWC in his Mastersbilt/Cornett Engines #12 sponsored
by B&W Metals & Cox Automotive.

There will be 26 starting spots for the 27th Annual Dirt Track World
Championship presented by GottaRace.com.

Promoter Carl Short anticipates that a dry summer and hot fall will
carry over into the fall racing season. He noted that the "weather has
to be better than last year", where 10 inches-plus of rain fell in the
days preceding the DTWC and additional rains washed away the first night
festivities. "We hope our efforts to get the show in last year shows
fans that we are committed to get the race in regardless of the weather.
We want fans to come with the idea and confidence that they will see a
race and they will see a great race. Great racing, camping, friendship,
atmosphere; that's the DTWC tradition."

Out-of-town guests are welcome to camp in up to 50 campsites in the main
parking area and over 150 sites across from the speedway back-chute.
Please call to make camping reservations for the parking lot at:
740.289.4114. KC Raceway would like to avoid some of the random
placement of campers in the parking area. Therefore fans are urged to
register a legitimate spot on raceway grounds. Much of that problem
hopes to be avoided with good weather.

Many area hotels have already filled up. Other area motels listed on the
DTWC and KC Raceway websites still have some rooms available and also
others within a 35-mile radius of the track. Reserved seating sales have
been booming and all indications are that a full house and one of the
biggest fields in DTWC racing history will be on hand.

In addition to the full Dirt Track World Championship presented by
Gottarace.com dirt Late Model program the 3rd Annual Jim Dunn Memorial
for non-qualifiers will be held in addition to a full program for
Modifieds. 26 starters will race for $2,500 to win and $300 to start in
the Modified main event. The tire rule will be announced on Monday
September 17.

Advance sale tickets for the DTWC, especially reserved seating, go
swiftly and race fans are encouraged to order early. Presale prices for
individual tickets are $40 for adult general admission, $10 for children
general admission ages 6-11 with children under age six admitted free
for general admission. The deadline for ordering pre-sale tickets is
October 1, 2007. A pre-sale three-day pit pass will be offered for $50.

After the October 1 pre-sale deadline expires tickets prices will be $50
for adult general admission, $15 children general admission ages 6-11
with children under age six admitted free for general admission.
Three-day pit passes will be $60.

Special reserved seating is also being made available for the 27th
Annual Dirt Track World Championship presented by Gottarace.com. The top
five rows of the grandstands, including the main grandstands and the new
grandstands in turn four, will be mandated reserved seating. Pre-sale
tickets for reserved seating are $45 per ticket. After October 1
reserved seating will be $55. Reserved seating ticket prices for
children age 11 and under will be $15 per ticket pre-sale and $20 per
ticket after October 1. A seating chart is available on the KC Raceway
website (www.kc-raceway.com) and race fans may pick their preferred
seats on a first-come, first-served basis.

The 27th Annual Dirt Track World Championship presented by Gottarace.com
kicks off on Thursday evening October 18 with an open practice session.

World Championship presented by Gottarace.com to be held on Saturday

K-C Raceway 2007

K-C prepares for Dirt Track World Championship
By Scott Wolfe
CHILLICOTHE, OHIO-The "Big-Race Money Season" is here as tracks gear-up to
reward their drivers with special events at the end of the traditional
racing season.  Jim Nier's K-C Raceway at Alma, Ohio near the renown
Tecumseh village of Chillicothe, is no exception and will play host to one
of the nation's biggest events, the 27th Annual Dirt Track World
Championship presented by GottaRace.com on October 18-19-20.  This will be
the third year that K-C has hosted the event, one of the "Crown Jewels" in
racing's treasure chest.
Many activities and added incentives are planned for the 2007 event, which
flaunts an over $200,000 purse for outlaw dirt late model stock cars and
open-wheel dirt modifieds. The winner's share of the purse is $50,000 for
late models and $2500 to win, $300 to start for modifieds. Twenty-six cars
start both events. During the weekend festivities of the 27th Annual Dirt
Track World Championship (DTWC) one dirt Late Model team will come away with
the designation 'Best Appearing Team' and along with that recognition will
come some special prizes announced Carl Short, founder and promoter of the
race.
Short anticipates that a dry summer and hot fall will carry over into the
fall racing season.  He noted that the "weather has to be better than last
year", where 10 inches-plus of rain fell in the days preceding the DTWC and
additional rains washed away the first night festivities.  Short and Jimmy
Nier concurred, "We hope our efforts to get the show in last year shows fans
that we are committed to get the race in regardless of the weather.  We want
fans to come with the idea and confidence that they will see a race, and
they will see a great race.  Great racing, camping, friendship, atmosphere;
that's the DTWC tradition."
Ohio fans know that on most night's K-C Raceway is a fast, multi-groove
track that features three-wide racing and a high-speed cushion.  K-C is also
fast when it takes rubber.  Past 100-lap events over the past five years
have seen  three or more cars within a car length of a win at the finish;
that's something virtually unheard of in today's flat-foot, high-dollar,
endurance runs.
With the coming of the DTWC, K-C Raceway has moved to the upper echelon of
modern dirt track racing. K-C's first-class facilities are ever-improving
and there is not a bad seat in the house.  Out-of-town guests are welcome to
camp in up to 50 campsites in the main parking area and over 150 sites
across from the speedway back-chute.  Please call to make camping
reservations for the parking lot (740-289-4114) and to get other race,
camping, and ticket information.
K-C would like to avoid some of the random placement of campers in the
parking area.  Therefore fans are urged to register a legitimate spot on
raceway grounds.  Much of that problem hopes to be avoided with good
weather.
Many area hotels have already filled up. Other area motels as listed on the
DTWC and K-C websites still have some rooms available and also others within
a 35-mile radius of the track. Reserved seating sales have been booming and
all indications are that a full-house and one of the biggest fields in DTWC
racing history will be on hand.
The "Dirt Track" as it is commonly called is one of the best bargains in
auto racing. Advance sale tickets for the DTWC go swiftly and race fans are
encouraged to order early. Presale prices for individual tickets are $40 for
adult general admission, $10 for children general admission ages 6-11 with
children under age six admitted free. The deadline for ordering pre-sale
tickets is October 1, 2007. A pre-sale three-day pit pass will be offered
for $50.
Although still a bargain, after the October 1 pre-sale deadline expires,
tickets prices will be $50 for adult general admission, $15 children general
admission ages 6-11 with children under age six admitted free for general
admission. Three-day pit passes will then be $60.
Special reserved seating is available. The top five rows of the
grandstands, including the main grandstands and the top rows of the new
grandstands in turn four, will be mandated reserved seating. Pre-sale
tickets for reserved seating are $45 per ticket. After October 1 reserved
seating will be $55. Reserved seating ticket prices for children age 11 and
under will be $15 per ticket pre-sale and $20 per ticket after October 1. A
seating chart is available on the KC Raceway website (www.kc-raceway.com)
and race fans may pick their preferred seats on a first-come, first-served
basis.
Racing begins on Thursday evening October 18 with an open practice session.
Qualifying and heat races will be held on Friday evening October 19 with the
consolation race, a non-qualifiers race and the 100-lap Dirt Track World
Championship presented by Gottarace.com to be held on Saturday evening
October 20. Sunday October 21 will serve as the rain date.
To purchase presale tickets and pit passes and/or to pre-enter a driver,
money orders, cashier's checks and credit cards may be used. The DTWC will
accept pre-sale credit card orders with MasterCard or Visa. To place your
credit card order telephone the KC Raceway office at 740.289.4114.Tickets

check to: DTWC, 340 Bailey Chapel Road, Piketon, OH 45661.

Thunderstorm Washes Out Saturday Night’s World of Outlaws Late Model Series Stop At K-C Raceway
ALMA, OH – Aug. 25, 2007 – The World of Outlaws Late Model Series couldn’t beat Mother Nature on Saturday night at K-C Raceway.
..........After the brunt of a late-afternoon thunderstorm stayed away from the three-eighths-mile oval, another downpour struck about three hours later just as cars were beginning to roll onto the track, forcing the postponement of the evening’s 50-lap WoO LMS event.
..........Thirty-two dirt Late Models were signed in for competition despite the threat of thunderstorms, which began rolling across southeastern Ohio during the afternoon hours. The first wave skirted the track shortly before 4 p.m. and brought a half-hour of rain, but it was the later storm that completely deluged the facility and ended any hope of action.
..........WoO LMS and K-C Raceway officials are working to find a suitable date to reschedule the event before the completion of the tour’s 2007 season. An announcement is expected to be made by Tuesday.
..........The rainout was the fourth this season for the WoO LMS, which will resume next weekend (Sat., Sept. 1, and Sun., Sept. 2) with the Oil Region Labor Day Classic at Tri-City Speedway in Franklin, Pa. Complete $10,000-to-win, 50-lap shows will be presented both evenings.
..........For more information on Saturday’s K-C Raceway postponement, visit www.kc-raceway.com or www.worldofoutlaws.com. Posting Should be made Tuesday evening or Wed. a.m.

Kentucky’s Steve Francis Hopes For Better Fortune

In This Saturday Night’s World of Outlaws Late Model Series Visit To K-C Raceway

Tour Points Leader Can’t Afford Repeat Of His Troubles In ’06 Event At Track He Knows Well

CHILLICOTHE, OHIO – It’s no surprise that Steve Francis loves racing at K-C Raceway. After all, Francis has enjoyed a healthy amount of success at the three-eighths-mile oval during his career, and the track’s location gives him a rare opportunity to compete within an hour’s drive of his home in Ashland, Ky.But the 39-year-old star won’t like the Nier family’s facility quite so much if the World of Outlaws Late Model Series 50-lapper there this Saturday night (Aug. 25) happens to be a repeat of his disappointing 2006 tour visit to the speedway.
.................While Francis says every appearance he makes at K-C Raceway is “fun” because he gets a chance to race in front of many family members and friends, last year’s WoO LMS show at the track that’s virtually in his backyard, on July 22, didn’t really match that description. He experienced a miserable evening, one that ultimately proved disastrous to his WoO LMS title hopes.
.................Francis had to qualify through a B-Main that night – and then things only got worse. When he returned to the pit area after the last-chance event a broken rocker arm was discovered in the engine of his car, forcing him to hastily pull out his backup machine. He made it onto the track for the A-Main with only moments to spare, and he managed only a 17th-place finish after starting last. The dismal outing crushed Francis in the WoO LMS points standings. He entered the event ranked fourth – a mere 30 points out of first – but left sitting in sixth place, 58 points behind. He finished outside the top 10 just once in the season’s remaining 12 events, but he never recovered from the hiccup at K-C.
Francis settled for a sixth-place finish in the 2006 points race – a disappointment after runner-up finishes in both 2004 and 2005.
.................Now Francis heads to K-C Raceway on Saturday night with his sight squarely set on capturing the 2007 WoO LMS championship for the first time. He’s been rock-solid steady all season in his Valvoline Rocket No. 15 – he has one win and more top-fives (17) and top-10s (28) than any other driver – and currently leads the standings by 36 points over Clint Smith of Senoia, Ga., and 44 points over Chub Frank of Bear Lake, Pa.
.................But Francis knows he has little wiggle room in the points battle, so he hopes the bad luck he had in ’06 at K-C won’t make a return. He would much prefer to pocket the $10,000 prize for winning the evening’s 50-lap A-Main, giving him a chance to celebrate in Victory Lane with many familiar faces like he did after STARS/Renegade Series wins at K-C in 1997 and 2001 and regular-show successes there early in his dirt Late Model career.
.................Francis’s primary challengers in the WoO LMS points standings can’t match his experience at K-C Raceway, but they’ve both been fast there in the past. Smith was a contender to win last October’s Dirt Track World Championship 100 at K-C before a bad restart left him with a fourth-place finish, and Frank owns a victory at the track (a 2001 STARS/Renegade event).
.................Other top-10 WoO LMS racers to watch include Josh Richards of Shinnston, W.Va., who set fast time and finished fourth in last year’s tour event at K-C; Shane Clanton of Locust Grove, Ga.; Rick Eckert of York, Pa.; Darrell Lanigan of Union, Ky.; Rookie of the Year contenders Tim Fuller of Watertown, N.Y., who will make his first career start at K-C, and Brian Shirley of Chatham, Ill., who will race at the track for the second time in his career; and Shannon Babb of Moweaqua, Ill., who won the 2006 DTWC at K-C.
.................A talented array of regional and local standouts are expected to enter the event as well, including Bart Hartman of Zanesville, Ohio; Jimmy Mars of Menomonie, Wis., who won an Xtreme DirtCar Series event at K-C in 2004; Steve Shaver of Vienna, W.Va., who led much of last year’s WoO LMS A-Main at K-C before finishing second to eventual tour champion Tim McCreadie of Watertown, N.Y.; Aaron Scott of Newark, Ohio; Wheelersburg, Ohio’s Conley clan (father Delmas, 65, and brothers Rod, 45, and R.J., 43); Josh McGuire of Ashland, Ky.; 20-year-old Jared Hawkins of Fairmont, W.Va.; 22-year-old Dave Hess Jr. of Waterford, Pa.; and defending K-C dirt Late Model champion Jason Montgomery of Jackson, Ohio.
.................K-C’s gates are scheduled to open at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, with action set to get underway at 7 p.m.
General admission is $30, with students (ages 7-15) $15 and kids 6 and under admitted free. Pit passes will be $40.
For further information, visit www.kc-raceway.com or call the track office at 740-289-4114.
K-C Raceway is located 12 miles south of Chillicothe, Ohio, in Alma, two miles off SR 23 on Blain Highway.

McCarl Wins WoO Thriller at K-C Raceway

By Scott Wolfe and WoO PR Director Tony Veneziano

CHILLCOTHE, OHIO-Terry McCarl recently took on the nickname, “TV Terry” after the success he has had during the “SuperClean Summer of Money” on ESPN2, as well as the quick wit and stage presence that he possesses when the tapes are rolling. He won the opening race of the eight-race mini-series last month at Knoxville Raceway, and on Saturday night at K-C Raceway, held off a furious charge from Donny Schatz to earn his second win of the “SuperClean Summer of Money” and second overall win on the season. Jamie Adams and Joe Williams won the companion modified and Hobby Stock features respectively.
McCarl Schatz

On a track that traditionally produces two and three-wide racing, McCarl and Schatz kept the fans on their feet for the last 10 laps of the event. McCarl took the lead on the 33rd lap and withstood two late cautions to earn the $10,000 triumph. Schatz looked high and then low lap-after-lap trying to get a run on the leader. He inched ahead several times but each and every time at the line, McCarl was officially scored the leader from the 33rd until the final lap.
“The television cameras must keep me motivated,” smiled McCarl, driver of the Big Game Treestands Eagle, in Victory Lane after doing a series of donuts on the back straightaway. “It is great to win in front of them. I had a great car all night. We timed in well and then were fast in the heat and won that. That put us in a good position.”
McCarl quickly worked his way into the Top-Five after the drop of the green flag, first passing Jac Haudenschild and then Steve Kinser, before setting his sights on Schatz. After one long green flag run that last for 14 laps, a series of cautions plagued the event. A couple of those cautions were for Kinser and Haudenschild, who both sustained flat tires while running in the Top-Five at different points of the race.McCarl
The race began with pole sitter Jeremy Campbell taking the lead, though the yellow flag flew before all the cars had completed a full lap, thus leading to a complete restart. On the second start, again Campbell again jumped to the lead in the first turn.
He would lead the first seven laps, before Donny Schatz would take the point on the low side of the track exiting the third turn. At the same time, Chad Kemenah was waging an epic battle with Steve Kinser. Lap-after-lap the pair ran side-by-side and traded the position, with Kemenah ultimately taking the runner-up spot.
After a red flag stop for fuel and ensuing restart, McCarl was right on Schatz’s bumper and a couple laps later McCarl used the high side of the track to carry momentum down the front staightaway to take the lead.
Schatz battled back and tired both the high and low sides of the track in an attempt to pass McCarl as the laps wound down. Several times, Schatz inched ahead of McCarl, but at the line for the final eight laps of the event, McCarl was officially scored the leader. While he was disappointed he finished second, Schatz was pleased knowing the fans saw a tremendous race with passing all over the track and throughout the field.
“It was a good race and just came out on the short end of the stick,” said Schatz, driver of the ParkerStore J&J. “We gave him everything that we could and he protected the bottom the last couple of laps. We did all we could and there will be another race and we will forget about tonight, just like we forgot about last night.”
Chad Kemenah started seventh and quickly worked his way into the Top-Three and earned a third place finish. He battled Steve Kinser for a number of laps for the runner-up spot and then for the third spot. It was his first Top-Five finish driving for Hard Eight Racing. He was ninth two weeks ago at the Kings Royal to earn his first Top-10 with the team

.Woo McCarl 2007
Rob Chaney started 20th and finished fourth in the Berlin Bakery JEI. Daryn Pittman also passed several cars, as he finished fifth after starting 22nd in the Titan Garages Maxim to earn the KSE Race Products Hard Charger Award.
Danny Lasoski powered his way through the field after starting 18th to finish sixth in the Roth Motorsports JEI. Kerry Madsen was seventh in the Selma Shell Maxim, with Tim Shaffer in the Casey’s General Store in eighth. Joey Saldana was ninth in the Open Joist JEI, with pole sitter Jeremy Campbell in the RLM Financial Maxim rounding out the Top-10 after leading the opening seven laps of the race.
Columbus, Ohio driver and K-C regular, Brandi Bower, the only female in the line-up, locked wheels with Roger Mossbarger on the last lap of the D-Main and flipped violently end-for-end down the front chute. Bower emerged from the car after a brief delay visibly shaken, but refusing treatment. 17-year Old Waverly, Ohio driver Aaron Higgins won the D-main and advanced to the C-main.
In the exciting modified main Laurelville, Ohio driver Jamie Adams put his Adams' Chassis #42 on the point and led from start to finish. But the plot was not as simple as that. At the drop of starter Kenny Blade's green flag Adams launched into the lead only to have Brandon Morrow dive low alongside Adams with Bob Crace, Jr. riding the rim for a three way battle for number one.
Morrow challenged a few more times, then settled into an early race duel with Crace for second. Morrow's tires began to fade, yielding second to Crace until Bobby Kitchen began his rebel charge. After surviving a race-long battle with Kitchen in the heat, Crace once again found himself in a battle with Kitchen.
The two former champs went after each other tooth and nail, while Adams sat out front with a four-car-length pad. On lap eight top ten driver Dave Fireball Pinkerton was clippped by another car and sent sailing tail first into the retaining wall. Pinkerton suvived but found himself at the back of the 21 car field. That ignited the drive of the race from last to seventh, mirroring Joe Hunley's fine driver from 14th to fourth to edge out Morrow behind Adams, Kitchen, and Crace.

Adams mod win 2007 woo
Garry Park, blasted from 18th to sixth to earn hard charger honors ahead of challengers Pinkerton, Tim Rayburn, Jamie Lawson, and Jason Cottrill.
Brandon Thompson ran a hard line from the outside pole to edge long-time K-C favorite Tommy Mossbarger into the first turn, then led the first circuit in a torrid side-by-side battle. Thompson cranked his orange crush 16t to the limits, but Mossbarger edged by on the second circuit, bringing along Jim Hildebrand into the mix. An inside groove freight train steamed around the early leader Thompson.
Shane Newman battled newcomer Luke Timmerman for a top five run, but Timmerman's run fell short after a rumble with Roger Shadwick, sending both to the tail. Joe Buskirk was riding out a good run only to fade away as Joe Williams grabbed a high gear and began a run for the money.
Williams picked off Thompson, then Hildebrand and began a two lap battle with Mossbarger for the top spot. Williams drove right by on round three and never wavered in leading the last eight laps for his first 2007 K-C win in the family, iconic #772 Camaro. Rounding out the top ten behind second place Mossbarger were Hildebrand, Nathan Preston who advanced five spots in a 9-to-4 run ahead of Thompson, sixth place Justin Poling, Hewman, Jerry Hemming, Dan Reno, and John Miller.

Joe Williams Woo win
The World of Outlaws return to action on Friday, August 3 at Charter Raceway Park in Wisconsin for a two-night show that will put the cap on the “SuperClean Summer of Money.” K-C Raceway will be idle August 4 and August 11 in preparation for the August 18 Sprint car championship.

K-C Raceway Results July 21, 2007
Veterans dominate field
CHILLICOTHE, OHIO- Not too many drivers can say they are undefeated at a given track at a day and age when everyone is fast, but Danville, Indiana's Danny Smith is now 4-for-4 in his visits to Jim Nier's K-C Raceway after a compelling 25-lap victory Saturday night in the 410 sprint division. Another veteran and Late Model 'Hall of Famer' Delmas Conley of Wheelersburg outfoxed the competition and led flag-to-flag in an exciting 25-lap feature event, while Wooster, Ohio's Kyle Brown baffled the modifieds and former champ Conard Newman nixed the Hobby Stock competition.
Dash winner Dean Jacobs looked like a run-away winner by lap six of the sprint car main, but it appeared his tires started to fade by lap ten with Dale Blaney reeled in the rim-riding northern Ohio star. Blaney, of Hartford, Ohio, took the low groove around the K-C highbanks, but Jacobs began to reel him back in lapped traffic. As Jacobs worked the high groove Danny Smith (up from 7th) found some open air in the middle-high groove and made it a three-way race for the next five laps.
Jacobs retook the lead on lap 14, then Blaney began a battle with Smith for second. All the while Jimmy 'No Fear' Nier got some heat in his tires and began to work the high side, while Keith Baxter worked his way through the pack in a quest for a top ten finish, while subbing for Freddie Staats. Ron Blair, Nick Naber, Todd Kane, and Tom Busch battled it out for the next tier, while Blaney slowed to a stop on lap 17 with a flat tire.
Jacobs seemed to have found renewed life and jumped into a heft lead on the restart with Smith in pursuit. Smith worked the traffic only to have Jacobs squeak through on opening and shut the door on the challenge. Finally on the 22nd circuit Smith and Jacobs entered turn three evenly sandwiching a lapped car in between. With little room to work on the ultra fast surface, Jacobs put both wheels on top of the wall with a nasty jolt that teetered between a finish and destruction. Somehow Jacobs brought it off the wall without losing any other positions as Nier charged into the frey.
Smith continued to dice through traffic to his fourth K-C win of the year, while Jacobs held off Nier for second. Behind Nier were Nier, Ron Blair, Nick Naber, Tom Busch, Dale Blaney, Todd Kane, Jimmy
Stinson, and Aaron Higgins. Baxter and Smith each advanced seven positions for hard charger honors.
Several heavy hitters sprinkled the Late Model line-up, but Delmas Conley, the point’s leader, was the class of the field. Conley initially rode the high side, then gradually worked his way toward the bottom in a flag-to-flag win.
Conley got the jump on Jason Montgomery, setting the stage for a Mike Wilson/Montgomery battle for second. Meanwhile, fast timer Rick Combs heated up the action and sacked Montgomery for third. Marty Huntley tagged the front stretch wall on lap three, then on lap eleven Brent Steele tagged the wall and was out of the race, ending a great run for the racing promoter.
Bobby Kitchen, Mark Frazier, Josh Tidwell, and Wayne Maffett, Jr. had a race long battle to penetrate the top five with Tidwell and Maffett aggressively shuffling positions nearly every lap. Belpre visitor Brian Eaton worked his way from the end of the field to a solid top ten, passing 13 cars to earn hard-charger honors.
Combs and Wilson then engaged in wheel-to-wheel combat with Combs eventually wrestling away the runner-up slot. Combs flat-footed around the bottom in his Rocket, while Conley held the middle groove until Combs showed himself alongside the infamous Conley Trucking #71. That was the elder statesman Conley's cue to move to the bottom where he endured three late cautions to stave off Combs at the finish for the popular win.
Rounding out the top ten behind Wilson were Bobby Kitchen, Mark Frazier, Josh Tidwell, Wayne Maffett, Jr., Jay Helton, Brian Eaton, and Russ Frohnapfel.
The modified main was a bittersweet event that featured the spoils of victory for Kyle Brown and the heartbreak of defeat for the fallen Brandon Morrow, who led the first 12 circuits before a wild tangle between Dave 'Fireball' Pinkerton and Dave Jamison brought out the caution flag. The two culprits became entangled and rode out the wreckage deep into turn one, eventually bring out the red flag as the cars were eternally hooked together.
On the parade laps and ensuing red Morrow's mount began to splash oil out the top oil pan plug and the hard-charger had to exit while in the lead. Brown, an earlier feature winner had been in a torrid 3-way battle with Morrow and multi-champion Bob Crace, Jr. Although Brown had nosed by on the bottom Morrow was able to hold on until the caution.
With Brown in the lead, Crace felt comfortable in the cat-bird seat. Crace charged high against the wall the last two laps, pulling up to Brown's door jambs only to scrub off speed upon exit and allow Brown to hang on for the win.
Anthony Slusher endured a race-long battle with Brian Whiteman to finish a solid third, while Mike Long earned hard charger honors to advance nine positions. Rounding out the top ten were Whiteman, Ed Eschmann, Jamie Adams, Jeremy Rayburn, Jess Wisecarver, Rob Stanbaugh, and Mark Bailey.
The hobby stock main wild from the onset. Tommy Mossbarger seemed to have things well at hand, until his tires began to fade around lap 8 when Joe Williams and Mossbarger battled door to door. Williams nosed by on the 11th circuit, then on the next lap after a restart Conard Newman battled Mossbarger for second. Newman slipped by and quickly began a charge toward the top spot, edging Williams to the line on lap 14 when another caution flew and the curfew whistle blew, declaring Newman the winner.
Behind Williams in second was Williams, Jerod Hemmings, Jim Hildebrand, Warren Ison, Jamie Dailey, Aaron Forcum, Jason Holstein, Dan Reno, and Joe Buskirk, who advanced 13 positions for the hard charger award.

Robinson Cashes in on K-C Hold'em, Bigley buries hatchet in Tomahawk 20
By Scott Wolfe
CHILLICOTHE, OHIO- Jim Nier's K-C Raceway has played host to many historic races, but Saturday's K-C Hold'em may have been one of the best ever. South Point, Ohio driver Todd Robinson and "Southside Flyer" Kenny Johnson of Washington, WV battled within inches of each other for the duration of the 30-lap K-C Hold'em Saturday night, where Robinson narrowly won the winner's share of the pot, a $1,500 pay-day for his great run. Coolville, Ohio's Steve Bigley bested a field of 25 Hobby Stocks to claim the companion "Tomahawk 20", a $1,000 pay-day for the new track record holder (16:378).
..............."I just really can't believe I am standing here in victory lane," a somewhat awestruck Robinson reflected. "This has to be one of the biggest wins of my career. I first have to thank the good Lord--He is the reason for the season and the reason we are able to celebrate this win. Of course, I have to thank my family and my crew. They put a lot of hours into our racing. I appreciate their efforts."
...............Cincinnati's Ed Eschman posted fast time in the modified division, but as a result of his dash win, Robinson sat on the pole alongside the hard-charging Johnson. The difference in the outcome may have been the start of the race, where Johnson's mount appeared to stumble and Robinson blasted out of the gate.
...............Robinson pulled Johnson into turn one on the initial start, but a wild melee` in turn one sent first heat winner Miles Cook (Lewisburg, Oh.) flipping hard into turn two, where he collected a hard hit from Dave "Fireball" Pinkerton, who had no place to go. Cook landed upside down, but emerged from the wreck only shaken. Pinkerton of Chillicothe, changed a tire and came off the tail to finish 11th in a great run. Pinkerton and Mike Long, Waverly, Oh. earned hard charging honors. Hard-Charging honors for the night, however, went to Long, who experienced some bad luck in his heat and had to run the C-main. Within a lap he led that event and brought home the win, then posted third in the B-main and progressed all the way to eighth in the feature. Long passed 30 cars in the course of the night for top passing honors.
...............This set the stage for one of the best battle's the K-C high banks have ever seen. At the drop Kenny Blade's green flag at the onset of the two-wide restart, Robinson once again pulled Johnson into turn one. Johnson dove low on the initial pass attempt, then rode Robinson's bumper for two laps before trying the high side. With the exception of two or three laps, that is the way the duo battled for the entire 30 laps. Words cannot describe the closeness and the excitement of the battle.
Johnson jumped the cushion on lap four and dropped back 6 car lengths, but in one lap he had cut the gap to a whisker's width from Robinson's bumper.
..............."I knew he was back there the entire time," said Robinson. "Kenny is a hard racer. I saw his nose several times, but knew I had to stay smooth and drive my race." And that is what Robinson did. He kept his cool and with the exception of one bobble remained fast and perfect.
...............Meanwhile, Johnson took his car to the extremes. His insurance carrier most certainly would have sweat bullets, but Johnson's precision and ability not to spin out his competitor most certainly earned him "Safe driving points".
...............Meanwhile, back in the pack, Jeff Houser just kept coming. With the two leaders separated from the field, Jamie Adams and Bobby Kitchen led a gaggle of cars in the battle for third. Houser, who started 11th and Jeremy Rayburn, the 9th place starter worked their way to the front with a rim-riding exhibition around the top of the track.
...............Doug Adkins, Ed Eschman, and Davey Groves fell by the wayside with mechanical woes to aid in the Houser/Rayburn charge. In the later stages of the race Houser bagged Adams and Kitchen, then ousted Rayburn for third.
Bob Crace, Jr. and Bud Frazier of Chillicothe and last week's winner Kyle Brown (Wooster) also charged through the pack for position, while visitor Jeff Wood ran a consistent race into the top ten.
...............Back at the point, Robinson was caught behind a lapped car and in a split second chose the high-side. Johnson went even higher into the twilight zone and somehow in a minor paint-scraping move took the lead on lap 19 only to have Robinson bore hard into turn one and regain the lead. Typical of a bump draft in the NASCAR ranks, Johnson rode Robinson's Tri-State Industrial/Kuhn Engines/ GRT #39 the rest of the way. Johnson twice jumped the cushion in going to the extremes, but fell a car-length short at the finish with $1,000 in hand.
..............."K-C is one of my favorite tracks," affirmed Robinson. "But we've started a new business and that takes precedent over our racing. If it wasn't for that we would be here much more. The track was in great shape tonight. I just love this place."
Rounding out the top ten were Houser, J. Rayburn, Kitchen, Jamie Adams, Crace, Jr., Long, Wood, and Brown.
...........................Tom Hammond has been fast right out of the box and made the A-Main with a great third place run in his heat. Brad McCown had a top ten finish last week and has been faster each and every week, but the bad luck bug bit him Saturday night...................................................................................................................................................................................................................The "Tomahawk 20" was no less impressive. Bigley, a two-time winner last year, battled former champion Jamey Adams hard for position over the first two laps. Adams gained the narrow initial lead, but Bigley drove it in hard as the pair came to the flagstand, swapping paint in an effort to secure the top spot. Bigley prevailed and survived two brief cautions to post the inaugural win in the "Tomahawk 20".
...............Said Bigley in victory lane, "I'd like to thank Jim Nier for having us here for this race and for giving us a great race track. I'd like to thank my crew, my family, and my sponsors. They invest a lot into this race team."
...............The dominant chassis of choice at K-C the past two years has been the Adams Chassis, a quality race car built by runner-up Jamey Adams, who also is a mighty good chauffeur. Bigley drove a Chris Stott's Chassis with Chapman power under the hood of the winning Gillian 33-Auto Sales #33.
...............The Hobby Stocks always put on a good show at K-C. But the Ohio Valley area standout Bigley had just a little too much for the competition Saturday night. In a stock bodied #27, Frankfort's Conard Newman put on one of the top shows of the race. The former multi-time champ proved he can still tour the high banks as he battled tooth-and-nail with Adams and Tommy Mossbarger for second place.
...............Midpack battles developed between invaders John Powell, Jr., Roger Shadwick, and Brett Carey and local hot shoes Adrion Doles, Justin Poling, Jim Hildebrand, and Nathan Preston. Meanwhile, Joe Williams' beautiful #772 was charging through the pack from 11th to sixth and challenged for a top five in the sometimes three-wide battles. He was named the hard-charger of the race.
...............While Bigley buried the hatchet on the competition, Adams secured second place over the charging Newman. Rounding out the top ten were Mossbarger, Doles, Williams, Powell, Poling, Hildebrand, and Shadwick.
...............K-C Raceway will host a full-racing program of 410 outlaw sprints, late models, modifieds, and hobby stocks Saturday, July 7. The World of Outlaw sprints will be in town July 28 for "The greatest show on Dirt!"
K-C Raceway is located 12 miles south of Chillicothe, Ohio three miles off SR 23 out Blain Highway at Alma. For further information, please call 740-663-4141 or 740-289-4114 or visit the K-C website at << www.kc-raceway.com >>

CHILLICOTHE, OH (6-23-07)
By Scott Wolfe
CHILLCOTHE, OHIO- Veteran barnstorming outlaw Danny Smith of Danville, Indiana did a series of sprint car burnouts to complete a perfect sweep at his newfound home track, Jim Nier's K-C Raceway, where Smith's hard charge complimented an equally impressive run by IRS Late Model drive Eddie Carrier in the 14th annual Night the Stars Come Out. The duo claimed the $5,000 winner's portion of a $60.000 purse that saw cars from as far away as Arizona sign into the pit area. In only his second visit to the track Wooster's Kyle Brown blasted a strong field of modifieds and praised the track crew (Dave and Bryan Karshner) for a great track that witheld the pounding of 100 hard laps of racing.
................Thirty-two sprint stars and cars and 43 of the nation's fastest late models joined a field or 27 modifieds for the 14th Annual Night the Stars Come Out at K-C Raceway where the un-official beginning to the 25th Annual Ohio Sprint Speedweek kicked-off at Jim Nier’s K-C Raceway. The lightning fast 3/8 mile bullring in the hills of Southern Ohio saw fast and furious action as the All Stars and IRS late models joined forces for what was one of the best NTSCO events in the short history of the event. The All-Stars used the preliminary night to tune up for the 7 straight nights of racing to follow in speedweek.
................The veteran, Danny Smith, who now calls Jim Nier’s K-C Raceway his home track has certainly got the place figured out. Jimmy Nier didn’t have up a for-sale sign, but Danny Smith sure owns the racing surface.
Smith dominated the last two weekly events there by lapping most of the field and put that knowledge to use to get his first All Star win of 2007. “I saved my tire so we’d be there at the end and we were able to get it done tonight.” After a couple of victory lane donuts, Smith joked by saying “It’s a good thing I saved enough tire for those donuts because if I would have tipped it over that would have been embarrassing.”
................Smith received a warm welcome to his new home as finance` Steph, a local Chillicothian, joined him in victory lane to the tune of a large ovation of approval for his efforts. Smith battled much of the mid-race with early leader Greg Wilson, but as the halfway point approached Dale Blaney, aboard George Fisher's mount, made it a foot-stomping three-way battle. What may have been the winning move was a daring dash through traffic circa lap 34 when Smith split two lapped cars and scrubbed off the pursuing Wilson tight on his rear nerf. Wilson was unable to follow and lost a nano-second of speed that allowed Smith to save just enough tire for the post race celebration.
................Nick Naber led the first eight circuits in a strong showing for the locals, but yielded to Wilson the races' second leader. Naber held on to second, but shortly thereafter, Smith blasted by and rifled by Wilson to take the lead.
Smith survived a couple late cautions to post the big win and make it a 3-for-3 sweep on the high banks.
................The top ten filed in to the finish in this order: 4-Danny Smith[4]; 2. W20-Greg Wilson[3]; 3. 2-Dale Blaney[6]; 4. O9-Craig Mintz[12]; 5. 24H-Rob Chaney[5]; 6. 28-Brian Paulus[14]; 7. 71M-Paul May[2]; 8. 92-Jimmy Stinson[11]; 9. 22-Nick Naber[1]; and 10. 11B-Brock Mayes. Craig Mintz won the All-Star Hard Charger Award by moving up eight positions.
Eddie Carrier, Jr. of Salt Fork, West Virginia, the 2004 K-C 100 Winner, and former World of Outlaw Rookie of the Year, held off a charging Bart Hartman the final 15 laps to claim the big IRS Super Late Model win.
Carrier said in victory lane, "I was just cruising and saving my tires, but I knew I had a little extra if I needed it. Dad signaled for me to move up under the caution and I saw Bart's nose up there on the start. I knew I had to get with it, so I drove flat out the last several laps."
................Hartman, the Hard-charger of the race, had passed 13 cars and when a late-race caution flew had found himself right behind Carrier with no lapped cars to hinder his charge.
In the Late Model main, after a pre-race spin by Robbie Blair on the initial start, the race went green-to-checker with the exception of one caution with eight laps to go for a spinning Ben Adkins. About the same time under caution Ryan Markham lost the right corner suspension and wheel assembly, setting the stage for a Hartman/Carrier battle to the finish.
................Carrier said he was cruising up to that point, but Hartman had been charging, and charging hard. In fact many fans doubted that Hartman would have given Carrier a run for his money if the yellow had not of waved. Fate, however, and good driving from the West Virginian prevailed as Carrier fired up the after-burners on the restart. Hartman blasted into turn one. Amid a few sprinkles Hartman's mounted pushed somewhat up the bank on the initial pass attempt, scrubbing off some speed.
Hartman again reeled in Carrier and made a couple last lap bids but Carrier's mount never bobbled and held off Hartman at the finish. Dash winner Josh McGuire led the early part of the race with two-time champion Jason Montgomery in hot pursuit. ................Montgomery had a solid run, but was no match for Carrier's early flex-of-the-muscle.
Carrier bagged Montgomery, and four laps later wrestled McGuire for the lead with Rick Aukland quick, and on the move. Rod Conley and Rick Combs were stampeding toward the front with lots of three-wide action throughout the pack.
................All eyes were on the top two cars as the race blitzed toward the checkered flag and the battle between Hartman and Carrier. Rounding out the top ten in the initial debut for the IRS cars were Eddie Carrier, Jr., Bart Hartman, Rick Aukland, Josh McGuire, Rod Conley, Jason Montgomery, Rick Combs, Doug Drown, Wayne Chinn, and veteran Delmas Conley.
................The modified racing was some of the best of the year at K-C, but when the dust had settled on the rubber-laiden speedway it was Kyle Brown taking home the win ahead of last week's winner Jamey Adams. Brown too the early lead and appeared to be a sure-shot for victory. Adams, however, had other plans and reeled him in for a close finish.
................Bud Frazier continues to amaze fans as the 72-year old earned the hard charger award for his blast from 11th to fifth over af field less that half his age. The crafty driver was also racing three deep into the final turn only to be slightly edged by fellow Chillicothian Mike Long and Fireball Pinkerton, the early challenger for the top spot.
Rounding out the top ten behind Adams were Fireball Pinkerton, Joe Hunley, Bud Frazier, Mike Long, Tim Rayburn, Bob Mapes, Mark Bailey, and Brad McCown.

................K-C will host a Modified/Hobby Stock special feature Saturday, June 30 but will not run Sprints or late models. The Nier family once again has stepped to the table and in the genre of an old-time Wild, Wild West shootout the clan is dealing a full-house of an event for its support divisions, bringing the best open wheel modified racers for a wild ride into town for the first annual "K-C Hold'em", a $1,500-to-win open wheel modified round-up on the historic high banks of Jim Nier's K-C Raceway near Chillicothe, Ohio. Joining the modifieds on the racing card Saturday, June 30 will be the first annual "Tomahawk 20" for Hobby Stocks, paying a whopping $1,000 to win.
K-C is south of Chillicothe on SR 23, three miles out Blain Highway at Alma. For further information, please call 740-663-4141. For ticket information, visit the K-C website at <<www.kc-raceway.com>> or call 740-289-4114, Monday - Friday 8AM to 5PM.

CHILLICOTHE, OH (6-23-07) Thirty-two stars and cars came out to kick off the un-official beginning to the 25th Annual Ohio Sprint Speedweek at Jim Neir’s K-C Raceway. The lightning fast 3/8 mile bullring in the hills of Southern Ohio saw fast and furious action as the All Stars used the preliminary night to tune up for the 7 straight nights of racing to follow.

The veteran, Danny Smith, who now calls Jim Neir’s K-C Raceway his home track has certainly got the place figured out.

OWENS RETIRES AS K-C FLAGMAN
 daryl and Delmas

CHILLICOTHE, OHIO- Daryl Owens and the name K-C Raceway are synonymous. In fact, in a way they grew up together.  Owens, 59 of Waverly, the long-time K-C Raceway flagman announced his retirement from flagging this past week after a medical condition made it impossible for him to stay in the sport he loved.
K-C Raceway owner Jim Nier said, “We want Daryl to continue to be a part of the K-C Raceway family, but right now his health is what is most important.  Daryl has done a great job for K-C Raceway over the years.”
Owen started flagging back in 1984 when K-C Raceway became that namesake under the Karshner-Cooper ownership.  With the exception of a couple brief absences from the stand, Owen has spent nearly 23 years flagging some of the best names and biggest races in motorsports history.
“It is hard to pin-point any one special time (on the flagstand). They were all special to me,” said Owens.  “But I had the honor of flagging the last race Rick Ferkel won here at K-C Raceway and I think it was the last race he won as an active driver.  He was always a class act and I was always a big Rick Ferkel fan, so that was a special moment.”
Ferkel, the Ohio Traveler,  was one of the original outlaw sprint drivers that was integral in launching and forming the foundation for the current “World of Outlaws” racing series.

daryl with flag            Owens noted, “I had the opportunity to flag races that Jeff Gordon won here and Jeff’s first sprint win when he was 13 years old.  I have had a lot of memories and meant a lot of great people.”
Owens also noted that it has been special to have flagged races with Tony Stewart, Dave Blaney, Kenny Schrader, Kenny Wallace and many other famous names in the line-up.  He added, “All the drivers are special people whether they had a big name or whether they were a national star.  I have had a chance to be a part of some of the best sprint and late model racing anywhere, especially the sanctioned late model races. I don’t think K-C has ever had a bad late model show. Some of those went three-wide right down to the checkered flag.”
“Daryl Owens has earned the respect of the racing community,” said K-C Raceway media director Scott Wolfe.  “Daryl was always well-liked, but most of all he was respected by the drivers.  You knew if Daryl had to get off the stand or he grabbed the black flag, he meant business.  It wasn’t often he had to do that.  The drivers just respected his calls moved along with the program.”jackie and daryl
“Daryl is also a good friend,” added Wolfe.  “I hope he is able to continue to be a regular here at the races.  He is a first-class person.”
Owen reflected, “I have just about flagged every kind of race there was.  I had the opportunity to flag the AMA Motorcycle series, the semi-tractor races they had here, and everything right on down to kids’ night and the bicycle races. It was all a lot of fun.”
Owens will also be retiring from CSX Railroad where he has worked for the past 37 years.  He noted that he and wife Joyce will be going to the races and spending more time with family and friends. “It’s time to relax a little,” he said.
Owens joked, “I had a couple people ask me if I was gonna die. I told them, ‘not if I take care of myself.’ And that is a fact.  I should be fine. Actually, I just have to keep an eye on my health and do what the doctors say.”
He went on  to reassure fans and drivers that he hopes to be around for a long, long time.
Kenny Blade, the assistant flagman, will now assume full-time duties on the flagstand starting this coming Saturday.  Races at K-C were rained out May 5, and another full pit area was sent home to wait for the Saturday, May 12 event.
Kids Night will be coming in two weeks, Saturday May 19 with special events and tours of the pits planned for the children.

Points Race Heats Up-Up-UP!!!

"K-C HOLD'EM" TO BECOME ANNUAL EVENT FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE............
"TOMAHAWK TWENTY' to Share Racing Card....2007
By Scott Wolfe
CHILLICOTHE, OHIO- K-C Raceway has had a very competitive year in the points race in all division is as close as one could get. In the modified division several local drivers hope to pull into victory lane for the $1,500 K-C Hold'em this Saturday night. The K-C Hold'em will be joined on the racing card by the Tomahawk 20 for Hobby Stocks paying $1,000 to win.
Nine time champ Bob Crace, Jr. of nearby Massieville is back on top and leads another champion Bud Frazier by just 4 points, while yet another Chillicothe driver Dave Fireball Pinkerton sets in third with 196 points just eight markers out of the lead. Anyone in the top ten has a shot at the title this year. Rounding out the top ten are Jamie Adams, Jeremy Rayburn, Mike Long, Jason Cottrill, Damon Taylor, Tim Rayburn, and Mark Bailey.
Likewise, Justin Poling leads Joe Williams by just four points in the Hobby Stock division. Williams a third generation driver from Chillicothe is hot in pursuit of a title that was forged years ago in Atomic Speedway/K-C Raceway history books by his grandfather, uncle, and father. With two nights of bad luck behind him, both sandwiched around three victorys, Chillicothe's Tommy Mossbarger sits fourth behind Nathan Preston, and just ahead of Dan Reno, who had his best run of the year last week.
Kyle Payne, Aaron Chesser, Joe Buskirk, Jamey Adams, and Warren Ison round out the top ten.
K-C Raceway owner Jim Nier hopes to up the ante for this prestigious event which is hoped to capture the attention of modified racers from across the country with an increased feature purse. Another gold chip for the racers is that it will provide the ultimate preparation for the upcoming Dirt Track World Championship battle this October 18-20. The winner will go home with a $1,500 paycheck with second place paying $1,000 and a hefty purse to place.. AMRA rules will be followed, however, no tire brand is mandatory as designated by that sanctioning body. The K-C tire rule of whatever tire you qualify with be the tire that is raced on (see details).
In the Hobby Stock division, the winner will get $1,000-to-win . Many of the major modified sanctions are taking the night off this weekend, stacking the deck for what could well be a record car count at Jim Nier's speed plant. Please check the K-C raceway website for details and rules or call the K-C Raceway office to confirm that your car is legal at 740-289-4114. Printable Entry forms can be found on the website.

Zanesville's Rick Aukland leads the group with 634 points, followed by Wayne Chinn-633, Ryan Markham-632, Dave Hess Jr.-624, and Robbie Scott-607. Fifteen or so big-name drivers who typically run with the IRS will be joined by some of the Midwest's best racers for this big event.

K-C LOOKING FOR APRIL FLOWERS---NO SHOWERS
BY SCOTT WOLFE

CHILLICOTHE, OHIO-Jim Nier's K-C Raceway is looking at an early-to-mid April start to the 2007 racing season, which hopes to be a promising season for the local racing scene as well as a successful venture for the veteran Nier family promotion team. The coldest February since the mid-1800's delayed work at the facility, and thus has delayed the release of the 2007 racing schedule which hopes to be released to the media in the next couple weeks.
"We haven't been able to do much because of the weather," said Jim Nier, Sr. "We have a few details to iron out with the schedule, but its mostly in place. We have signed on the traditional big races, and hope to serve our local racers and fans with a good weekly show. We have to look at a later start than we have planned in the past, but right now it will be racing as usual most every Saturday night."
K-C has tried to get the jump on area racing the past few years with an early March start, but the weather just never cooperated and delayed the start of the season into April. This year's winter allowed some work to be done early, but late January freezes and February record-low temperatures brought progress to a halt at Ohio's fastest 3/8 mile dirt oval. The World of Outlaws will return in 2007 with the WoO sprints coming to town July 28, 2007 and the late models August 25, 2007. The non-sanctioned 27th annual DTWC will be the weekend of October 18-19-20. Traditional dates with the All-Star Circuit of Champions are expected along with possible non-sanctioned "Invitationals" and high dollar shows for support classes.
Over 450 drivers in four classes from 32 states, Canada, and Australia visited K-C Raceway during the 2006 racing season. Thirty-five different drivers won feature events in various classes. Three NEXTEL cup drivers participated at K-C Raceway last season--Kenny Wallace, Kenny Schrader, and two-time champion Tony Stewart.
A lot of off-season driver changes have occurred during the off-season, many drivers have new paint schemes, several fans have taken the plunge to purchase cars and become drivers themselves, and the 2006 champs are poised to defend their titles. Jimmy Stinson, Englewood, Ohio was the 2006 410 sprint champion, while Jason Montgomery of Jackson claimed his second straight Late Model crown. Aaron Higgins of Waverly took the Modified crown and has since purchased the Ray Pullins #29 sprint car for a shot at a career in 410 racing. Tommy Mossbarger, Chillicothe, Ohio will be set to defend his Hobby Stock championship.
K-C Raceway would like to once again congratulate its champions and all of its competitors and fans. 2006 was a weather-challenged year with seven races rained out early and two other events ran with threatening rains in Waverly and Chillicothe--a promoter's nightmare. Then all was topped off by the ultra-muddy, but super-exciting Dirt Track World Championship compacted from a three-day to two-day extravaganza.
K-C Raceway races weekly shows on Saturday nights throughout the summer, featuring 410 Outlaw Sprints, Late Models, Hobby Stocks, and Modifieds. Special events are sanctioned by various series including The World of Outlaws and Boundless Motor Sports Racing, Inc., (Boundless) d/b/a DIRT MotorSportsTM who can be reached at <<http://www.theworldofoutlaws.com>> . The All-Stars can be reached at their website: << http://www.allstarsprint.com >>
K-C is 12 miles south of Chillicothe on SR 23, two miles out Blain Highway at Alma. For further information, please call 740-663-4141. For ticket information, visit the K-C website at <<www.kc-raceway.com>> or call 740-289-4114, Monday - Friday 8AM to 5PM.

Just How Prestigious is the Dirt Track World Championship....WELL here comes Tony!! and ALL the STARS of Dirt Track Racing 2006

Chillicothe, OH --- Famed NASCAR Nextel Cup star and Eldora Speedway owner Tony Stewart is the latest driver to enter the upcoming 26th Annual Dirt Track World Championship presented by Arizona Sport Shirts. The crown jewel race will be held October 19-21 at Jim Nier’s KC Raceway in Chillicothe, OH and will pay the winner $50,000 to win. Stewart indicated his recent success at Knoxville, his desire to compete, and the prestige of the DTWC were all factors in his entry. Plus, he says "the opportunity came....and I jumped at the chance to come to K-C."
“It's always a treat for dirt racing fans to be able to see a NASCAR driver at the track, but having Tony Stewart come to race is something special,” commented Dean Nardi, who along with DTWC founder Carl Short is promoting the event. “Stewart will surely give a top notch effort as he showed with a strong 2nd place finish at the recent Knoxville Late Model Nationals. K-C Raceway Promo... Can some driver pull the ultimate upset??
Also, Race details and format...........

CHILLICOTHE, OHIO-Last year was a "Research and Development"/"Wait and See" type transitional year for the number one Dirt Late Model Race in America-- The Dirt Track World Championship!!! The results of the research came in quickly and the data was unanimous in that the DTWC had found a new home with a renewed spirit in Jim Nier's K-C Raceway. This year's extravaganza will hit the K-C high banks October 19-20-21 for what will the first-year reunion of a graduation party that hopes to last a lifetime.
The race will follow about the same format that was popular with fans last season, including the second annual Jim Dunn Memorial race--a race for non-qualifiers-- that bolsters the purse and gives the throng of racers that congregate an extra excentive beyond making the top 24 starting spots.
The 2005 race saw Scott Bloomquist bring home the win on a track that was prepared to perfection with exciting three-wide racing for the top spot and for position back-in-the pack. Fans can expect the same quality track service at the 2006 DTWC as they did last season--kudos to Dave and Bryan Karshner.
Last year, Jason Montgomery the 2005 K-C champion wanted so badly to do well in front of the home town fans. A flat tire on his initial qualifying run stymied his chances for success as he had to start every race in the rear. Montgomery vows a different outcome in 2006. As 2006 champ he is the top dog in a long line of high quality drivers that have visited K-C this season. Montgomery wants a good showing and ultimately the win, but he knows it will be tough.
Kenny Christy, a top-notch veteran driver, who finished second in K-C points is another top contender with local flavor, while the Conley-Clan of patriarch Delmas Conley and sons R.J. and Rod have visited K-C somewhat regularly in 2006 to prepare for the super bowl of dirt track racing. The question is--Can a local driver upset the big boys fromt he national tours?
Many are skeptical, but still many believe in the magic. The magic that carries over from the "Magic of Pennsboro" slogan piped across the nation when Jim Dunn scored the ultimate upset in the very first DTWC.
Bart Hartman has been a frequent visitor to K-C in 2006 and has twice found victory lane. Jackie Boggs owned K-C last season, but made few appearances in 2006. Still he is a fan favorite to conquer the unconquerable.
Eddie Carrier, Jr.-- a fairly local K-C man a year ago-- is vying for "Rookie of the Year" points on the outlaw trail, yet considers himself a local from nearby, Teays Valley, WV. Steve Casebolt, Jr., Mike Balzano, Steve Shaver and John Blankenship joined Tim McCreadie at K-C this season and are past victors.
But reflecting back to the local flavor; can the grassroots top-ten K-C competitor be the next man to make DTWC history. K-C is sort of shifting gears between a sprint car track and a late model track. Fans of both sanctions claim victory, but the biggest name in dirt track stock car racing now calls K-C home.
Greggie Oliver has been on the climb and really shortened the learning curve the past two seasons. Oliver is fast and a solid fourth place point man this year, edging veteran Mark Frazier-- 5 time champion --who came on strong at the conclusion of the year. Other names to note are Tony Throckmorton, Craig Gibson, and Ben Adkins, who along with the Conleys (Delmas 3rd, Rod Conley 6th, R.J. 12th) rounded out the top ten with Hartman in 9th.
Blake and Wayne Chinn were successful at K-C this year, joining Scott Edmisten, Mike Wilson and Aaron Bapst as drivers with local connections eager to gain stardom. Who knows? Maybe 2006 will bring another year of magic.
The 26th Annual Dirt Track World Championship presented by Arizona Sport Shirts kicks off on Thursday evening October 19 with an open practice session. Qualifying and heat races will be held on Friday evening October 20 with the consolation race, a non-qualifiers race and the 100-lap Dirt Track World Championship to be held on Saturday evening October 21. Sunday October 22 will serve as the rain date.
Driver entry fee will be $100 if pre-entered by October 1, 2006. After October 1 the driver entry fee will be $200. All entry and pit fees will remain the same as last year but this year the Modifieds will run entirely on Thursday and Friday. "For the 2006 race, we decided to alter the schedule so that the Modifieds would be able to complete their portion of the DTWC with a 40-lap feature on Friday night," revealed promoeter Dean Nardi. "All qualifying for the Modifieds will be held on Thursday, leaving just the feature to be run after the Late Model heats Friday."
To purchase presale tickets and pit passes and/or to pre-enter a driver, money orders, cashier's checks and credit cards may be used. The DTWC will accept pre-sale credit card orders with Mastercard, Visa, Discover and American Express. To place your credit card order telephone the DTWC office toll free: 800.536.5277.
Tickets are also available via mail order by sending a money order or cashier's check to: DTWC, P.O. Box 349, Powell, TN 37849.

CHILLICOTHE, OHIO-In what may be the biggest night of the year at Jim Nier's K-C Raceway, Nextel Cup racing in-part is coming to the region Thursday, August 17. Over 100 nights a year Nextel Cup stars Kenny Schrader and Kenny Wallace put on their helmets and strap into a race car. One of those dates is scheduled August 17 at Jim Nier's K-C Raceway, a special Thursday night race, where Schrader will compete against the locals and Midwest's best dirt Late Model drivers and Wallace will race in his AMRA Modified against the local racers.
Since he was a little boy growing up in Fenton, Mo., Schrader has found some of his greatest happiness driving in circles. And after 20 full seasons in NASCAR’s elite series, Schrader still can’t wait to put on his helmet, strap in his driver’s seat and chase the checkered flag every Sunday afternoon or any other day of the week for that matter.
It is that desire and dedication to drive that has earned Schrader the reputation around the garage as a true racer’s racer. It’s nothing for Schrader to run a couple of dirt races during the week, compete in the Nextel Cup Series on the weekend and then show up at another dirt track show on Monday night. It is in one of these scheduled events that Schrader will compete on the highbanks of K-C Raceway.
In fact, many have said that Kenny Schrader will race just about anything that has wheels. Asphalt or dirt, superspeedway or half-mile track – it really doesn’t matter as long as it has three pedals and a steering wheel.
" I’ve been racing since I could walk, and it is really all I have ever wanted to do. To be honest, I would race everyday if I had the opportunity.”
And that’s no understatement. At one point in his career, Schrader was running in excess of 100 races each year. In recent years, Schrader has cut that number back to about 90 races a season, but he still climbs in that race car every time he has the chance.
For the past 20 years, Schrader has focused on racing full-time in the Nextel Cup Series. However, he also drives for his self-owned team in a variety of series including the Craftsman Truck Series, the NASCAR Grand National West Division, the NASCAR Auto Zone Elite Southwest Series and the ARCA Series. Schrader also finds time to stay close to his roots as he also races at various dirt tracks throughout the Midwest each year.
Over the past 20 years in the Nextel Cup Series, Schrader has collected a total 640 starts and more than $25 million in earnings.
“I want to spend my time racing,” Schrader said. “It’s not only my job, but it’s also my hobby. I love the time that I get to spend behind the wheel, and as long as I can, I’m going to race whenever I get the chance.”
For Kenny Wallace, the desire to race is just as great. Born in St. Louis, Missouri on August 23, 1963, Kenny is the youngest of three boys, and racing was a household reality before any of the boys could wheel a car. Dad Russ Wallace was a formidable racer on the local dirt tracks.
Wallace has his own race team and teams with Kenny Schrader on off-nights to do what he loves most-drive a race car. Wallace owns his own dirt modified and enjoys the thrill of broadsliding through the turns of fast, high speed dirt ovals like K-C Raceway.
Wallace’s Busch Series accomplishments include nine wins, ten poles, and eight seasons in the top ten in driver points. In fact, Kenny has finished in the top ten in every full Busch Series season he has ever run, including a second-place run in 1991 that ended just 74 points shy of the championship in what is still one of the closest points battles in series history. In addition to his wins, Kenny boasted 58 top-five finishes and 141 top-ten runs prior to the 2005 season. In 312 starts, that’s a top ten finish in more than 45% of his races!
Kenny also has over 300 starts in the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series. He has grabbed three poles, six top-five, and 27 top-ten finishes, including three career high second-place runs. Kenny’s most well known finish probably came when he pushed the late great Dale Earnhardt to his final Cup victory at Talladega in 2000 in a thrilling last lap shootout. Kenny also has two Budweiser Shootouts to his credit. In 1998, Kenny and his brother Rusty Wallace staged a thrilling one-two finish on the last lap with Kenny pushing Rusty across the checkers for the win. In 2002 Kenny finished ninth in the Shootout.
Kenny has also found success in the world of television. He is the co-host of two programs for Speed Channel each week; NASCAR This Morning, which airs before the Nextel Cup race each week, and NASCAR Victory Lane, which extends post-race coverage. Kenny and his family are also fixtures on FX’s hit show NASCAR Drivers: 360.
K-C Raceway is located on Blain Highway off SR 23 between Waverly and Chillicothe at Alma. For further information or to order tickets please visit the K-C website at << www.kc-raceway.com >> or call 740-663-4141 or 289-4114.

WoO Mean 15 Coming to K-C Aug. 5, 2006

(See accompanying story below)

A Change of Luck: Kemenah Heads to K-C Raceway with Momentum
By: Tony Veneziano, WoO Sprint Series PR Director

Chad Kemenah was on top of the world on February 9. He had just turned in a
dominating performance to pick up the season opening World of Outlaws win at
Volusia Speedway Park. Fresh off the heels of winning four straight titles
with the All Star Circuit of Champions, he was all geared up to take to the road
with the World of Outlaws for the first time ever to follow the series
full-time.

Since then though, it has been a roller-coaster season for the native of
Findlay, Ohio. He has gotten caught up in accidents that were not of his
making. He has suffered some mechanical woes on the car. In addition to
this, he even sustained a severe ankle injury in early June at Eldora Speedway.

The last couple of weeks have brought optimism back to Kemenah and the team
as they had a very successful trip to New York last week, including a fifth
place run at Lebanon Valley Speedway. He backed that up in the finale of the
Princeton PolyDome Nationals by coming home 10th.

This weekend, he looks forward to returning to his home state for a pair of
races, on Friday at Eldora Speedway, and on Saturday at K-C Raceway. Though
he is not very superstitious, Kemenah knows that luck always comes into play in
racing, both good and bad. He is hoping that the team has gotten all of
their bad luck out of the way, and knows they have a strong foundation to continue
to build on.

"I hope our luck has changed," said Kemenah, who drives the
RacinSoles.com/Underground Utilities Inc. Eagle. "I am not sure about a
total change in luck. I feel real good going back to K-C. We have a lot of laps
there. It?s a really neat racetrack and it should be a good show for the
fans."

For Kemenah and his team, it will also provide a welcome stop back at their
own shop, after logging numerous miles on the road over the last few weeks.
Among those treks, was a 1,200 mile journey from New York to Minnesota over the
course of a day and a half.

"We'll actually be able to go home and sleep in our own beds for a few
days," said Kemenah. "We'll definitely take advantage of being home for a little
bit."

One of the constants for the team all year long, has been how hard the crew
led by Chad?s brother Brian, has worked. A prime example of this was at Lebanon
Valley when the car lost a rear end during the dash only moments before the
A-Feature was scheduled to roll off. Never thinking of giving up, the crew
was able to change it and had Chad ready for A-Main, in which he raced his way
to the fifth spot, to pick up his 7th top-five finish of the season.

"The crew has done a great job all year long," he said. "It has not been an
easy season for us so far. We have tore up a lot of stuff and had a lot of bad
luck. They have held their heads up and every time something happens, they try to
get it fixed. We go out and do the best that we can."

On Saturday night, he looks forward to taking to the track at K-C, where he
has won at in the past, with the All Stars. He enters the race leading the chase
for the Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year Award Presented by Maxim Racing
and ButlerBuilt. He is 7th overall in World of Outlaws championship points. He
has turned countless laps at the racy 3/8-mile oval. Will that give him an
advantage against the rest of the Mean 15?

"I don't know how much having more laps helps against these guys," he said.
"Some of the guys have never seen it. Laps don?t hurt you anywhere. I don?t
care where it is. Hopefully we can benefit from running there quite a bit.
Usually that place is the same most of the time, and we'll see what
happens."

Though there is always pressure to perform well at a race that is close to
home, Kemenah and his team always place high expectations on themselves, no matter
where they are at.

"Whenever you go back home, you want to perform well," Kemenah said. "We try
as hard as we can every night though. Hopefully we'll have a good run there and
make all the people that know us proud."

One perk about going back to K-C Raceway is that Kemenah will get the chance
to mingle with family, friends, and fans, who only get to see him race a couple
times each season. Also some of his sponsors will get a chance to come to
the event and see him on the track.

"We'll see a lot of people that we know," he said. "We ran K-C for almost
two years. It will be good to go back and see some of those fans."

Luck can change at any point, and Kemenah believes if the team keeps working
hard, good things will continue to come their way. They have shown they are
fast on all types of tracks, and if not for a couple of bad breaks, they
probably would have a handful of wins right now.

"We want to keep finishing the best that we can and as many races as we
can," said Kemenah. "We're going to try to eliminate some of this luck that we
have been having, and hopefully it will roll the other way. Sometimes you can?t
control lady luck, you just have to ride it out."

Though he is classified as a rookie with the World of Outlaws, Kemenah is
far from that, especially on the tracks in the Buckeye state. Look for him to
use this experience on Saturday night as looks to make it back to RacinSoles

Bobby Oney Memorial Race
By Scott Wolfe
CHILLICOTHE, OHIO-June 24th marks the historic “Night the Stars Come Out” at Jim Nier's K-C Raceway, a race that has become know as a "must see" event for Midwestern racing fans. Paying $5,000 to win in both the Late Models and 410 All-Star sprints, this spectacular event will pay over $72,000 in total purse money.
Started as an anniversary celebration for the previous owners, the Karshner family, "The Night the Stars Come Out" was the first event of its kind nationwide, combining the All-Star Circuit of Champions sprint cars and at that time the STARS late models. Since that time the STARS late models were purchased by another organization and both the "Xtreme" Late Models series and NARA Lucas Oil series have been on the “Night the Stars Come Out” racing card. One thing that has remained has been the loyalty of the All-Star sprint series, now owned by businessman Guy Webb.
Although the late model portion of the program is not sanctionedin 2006, it pays a $26,000 purse at a track where such stars as Steve Francis, Mike Balzano, Steve Shaver, Steve Casebolt, Jr., Bart Hartman, Jackie Boggs, Eddie Carrier, Jason Montgomery, and the racing Conley’s have already joined forces for non-sanctioned races in 2006 at Jim Nier's Speed plant. CHILLICOTHE, OHIO- The cards have been dealt, the Nier family has stepped to the table, and the best of open wheel modified racers will ride into town for the first annual "K-C Hold'em", a $3,000-to-win open wheel modified round-up on the historic high banks of Jim Nier's K-C Raceway near Chillicothe, Ohio. Joining the modifieds on the racing card Saturday, June 10 will be the first annual "Tomahawk 20" for Hobby Stocks, paying a whopping $1,000 to win.
K-C Raceway owner Jim Nier hopes to up the ante for this prestigious event which is hoped to capture the attention of modified racers from across the country with an anticipated $9,500 feature purse. Another gold chip for the racers is that it will provide the ultimate preparation for the upcoming Dirt Track World Championship battle this October. The winner will go home with an unprecedented $3,000 paycheck with second place paying $1,500 and a hefty purse to place, steadily tailing off to $200 to start. AMRA rules will be followed, however, no tire brand is mandatory as designated by that sanctioning body. The K-C tire rule of whatever tire you qualify with be the tire that is raced on (see details).
In the Hobby Stock division, the winner will get $1,000-to-win and $80 to start of the $5,210 feature purse. A pre-entry fee of $100 for the modifieds and $50 for the Hobby Stocks must be paid to the K-C office by June 7. The entry fee the night of the race will be $125 and $65 for the unsanctioned event.

K-C Raceway signs two established sponsors!!!sponsors signedA>
By Scott Wolfe
CHILLICOTHE, OHIO- Tabbed as one of the biggest announcements of the 2006 racing season at Jim Nier's K-C Raceway, K-C owner Jim Nier announced the signing of two major sponsors for this racing season-Bazell Race Fuels of Logan, Ohio and Kentucky based Big Sandy Furniture Superstores. The partnership between the raceway and these corporate sponsorships could lead to a long term relationship among the parties, and as a result bring a new dimension to an already growing entertainment venue K-C has to offer.
"We are very pleased to sign on with Bazell Race Fuels and Big Sandy Superstores. This is a major announcement for us here at K-C Raceway." said K-C spokesman Bruce Hines. "This is a big deal for us and we hope it turns into a long term relationship. We appreciate all of our sponsors. Racing is sponsorship oriented from local racing to NASCAR. The Nier's have already taken local racing to a higher level. And with the Dirt Track World Championship as a cornerstone they hope to take dirt racing to the next level. We hope this partnership with our new sponsors benefits all the parties involved and we hope our fans support those who support us."
For a complete list of K-C Raceway sponsors fans should visit the K-C Raceway website << http://www.kc-raceway.com/sponsors.html >>.
Bazell Race Fuels features Sunoco Racing Gasoline’s and Alky Racing Alcohol among its many racing products. Bazell Race Fuels is now the "Official racing fuel of K-C Raceway".
Bazell Race Fuels is pleased to announce the signing of a long-term partnership with the historic K.C. Raceway in Waverly, Ohio. Founded in 1953, the track has a long history of racing action. Jim Nier purchased the track in 2002 and has made several improvements, making it a showplace for southern Ohio racing. Premier events such as the "Ohio Challenge," featuring the World of Outlaw sprints vs. the All Star Circuit of Champions, "The Night the Stars Come Out," "Veterans Appreciation 100," and especially the grand finale, "Dirt Track World Championship," have drawn crowds of racers and fans alike to K.C. Raceway. For more information on this legendary track, please visit the K-C website: www.kc-raceway.com
Although Big Sandy Superstore has a location in Chillicothe, Ohio, sponsorship to K-C Raceway comes from all Big Sandy locations. Big Sandy Superstore was founded in Ashland, Kentucky in 1953 by Robert Van Hoose, Sr. Fresh out of the Air Force, Mr. Van Hoose had a $1000 loan from his wife Lorna and opened his first store. With his faith in God as his foundation, Mr. Van Hoose ran his business on a very basic principle…the golden rule.
Van Hoose believed in giving customers the best possible value for the money spent and if there was a problem, simply follow the golden rule. This simple formula has stood the test of time as Big Sandy has grown into a regional powerhouse in the home furnishings industry and is one of the nation’s top 100 furniture retailers. Now with multiple store locations and over 600 employees in Kentucky, Ohio, and West Virginia, Big Sandy continues to make every decision on the golden rule principal.
The family values, arcades for special events, and events such as Kids Night appealed to the Big Sandy philosophy of doing business. "Kids Night" at K-C is May 20, 2006. Many special attractions for the younger racing fan will be on the K-C Raceway grounds, along with a theme of family fun, games, and many door prizes.
Owner Jim Nier reflected Hines sentiments, "We are very, very pleased to sign on with Big Sandy Superstores and Bazell Race Fuels. All of our sponsors have been very good to us and have allowed us to continue one of the finest weekly programs, with the biggest weekly purses of any area tracks, while also helping us bring in elite touring organizations for special events. We are thankful to have such a quality group of sponsors."
Nier added, "I am anxious to get 2006 underway. The weather has been terrible. I hope our fans and racers bare with us and support us when the weather breaks. Our fans are very important to us as well. Hopefully, we get the season underway on April 22, 2006.
K-C is located 6 miles South of Chillicothe off SR 23 at Blain Highway. For further information the race day phone is 740-663-4141 or 663-4143, or visit the K-C website at <<www.kc-raceway.com >> For race and ticket information, please call 740-289-4114.

K-C RACEWAY PROMO AMRA invades KIDS NIGHT Festivities

CHILLICOTHE, OHIO- The best of K-C Raceway's modified contingent will square off against the best from the AMRA Road Warrior tour this Saturday, May 20 in the third annual "Eye Opener 30" on the high banks of Jim Nier's K-C Raceway. The winner of the Road Warrior Tour event will take home $1,000 of the $17,000 prize money in three divisions- Modifieds, Late Models, and Hobby Stocks--during "Kids Night" festivities.
There will be no sprint car racing Saturday, May 20; however, the 410 outlaw sprinters return as part of a four-division full racing program on Saturday, May 27.
Heading the entry list is 2005 AMRA Road Warrior Tour champion Louie Krushansky. Termed as "Lucky Louie", this veteran Morgantown, WV driver always puts on an exciting show. Last year, Krushansky was involved in a heat race accident and had to come off the tail of the B-main in exciting fashion to make the feature.
"The Xenia Tornado", Greg Beem of Xenia, Ohio's started last year's event by lowering the existing modified track record, besting the 44 car field that represented 4 states, then stormed his way to a front row starting position by dominating the evening's opening heat race and feature.
The top ten in the 2005 AMRA points race are expected to be at K-C Saturday. They are Louie Krushansky, Dave Defibaugh, Mark Dickson, Benny Hickel, 2004 champ Kenny Johnson, Tom Moore, Will Rowe, Junior Nolan, Andre Layfield, Tim Riley, and Rob House.
Perennial K-C champ Bob Crace, Jr. heads the list of local drivers out to challenge the touring Road Warriors. Tim Brown and Aaron Higgins of Waverly, Dave "Fireball" Pinkerton, Jeff Houser, Jamie Lawson, Bud Frazier, and Mike Long of Chillicothe, and Laurelville, Ohio driver and 2004/2005 Hobby Stock champion Jamie Adams are the top contenders to unseat the touring pro's. Also on hand will be points leader Doug Adkins, Doug Betts, and Eric Shepherd.
Tight races are also developing in the late model and hobby stock divisions. Among the K-C points leaders this year are R.J. Conley, Kenny Christy, Rod Conley, Jason Montgomery, Ben Adkins, Delmas Conley, Aaron Bapst, Greg Oliver, Wayne Chinn, Aaron Scott, Blake Chinn, and Steve Casebolt, Jr. In the Hobby Stock division Joe Williams in the familiar 772 Williams family camaro heads Tommy Mossbarger 111 points to 105, just ahead of Justin Poling, Conard Newman, Jamie Adams, Richard Johnson, John Miller, Richard Trego, Joe Hunley, Dan Reno, and Steve Leist.
Jim Nier's K-C Raceway also will host Kids Night, Saturday, May 20 at Ohio's fastest high-banked dirt track. The track will provide a variety of activities for the kids. Free prizes, games, face painting, balloons, and the infamous "We-Be-Clowns" will be on hand for this fun-filled night.

Thrice Delayed"Thrice" Delayed K-C opener Now

April 22, 2006

Mother Nature claims K-C Raceway
By Scott Wolfe
CHILLICOTHE, OHIO-For the third straight week, Mother Nature has been the only winner at K-C Raceway, canceling the April 8, 2006 races and postponing the start of the 54th season opener at the storied Midwestern track. The next race will be April 22, 2006.
Sleet and a wintry mix of additional rain forced the third straight cancellation at Jim Nier's ultra fast speedplant. A disappointed Jim Nier said, "Last week we worked all morning and most of the afternoon and just could not get things dried out enough to safely put on a program. This week the temperatures are 20 degrees cooler than last week and this last shower has forced us to make an early cancellation. I am disappointed, and I know our fans and racers are disappointed, but hopefully the weather will break soon and we can get in a good show here in a couple weeks."
K-C Raceway will take the Easter weekend off, then come back for a much anticipated season opener on April 22, 2006. This show will feature a full racing program in four divisions-410 outlaw sprints, late models, Hobby Stocks, and Modifieds. A regular show with the same racing card will follow April 29, 2006.
The first special event of the year will be the K-C Raceway hosted "Ohio Challenge II" featuring the World of Outlaw sprints against the All-Star Circuit of Champions on May 13, 2006. Modifieds will be the support group on May 13. "Kid's Night" featuring AMRA style Modifieds, Late Models and Hobby Stocks will be May 20th. Many special attractions for the younger racing fan will be on the speedway grounds, along with a theme of fun and games, and many door prizes.
K-C is located 6 miles South of Chillicothe off SR 23 at Blain Highway. For further information the race day phone is 740-663-4141 or 663-4143, or visit the K-C website at <www.kc-raceway.com >> For race and ticket information, please call 740-289-4114.

Will the third time be a charm???

K-C opener April 8, 2006

CHILLICOTHE, OHIO- Despite a tremendous effort from the track crew, the pits and track at K-C Raceway could not be sufficiently dried out enough to safely conduct a racing program for the anticipated season opener April 1. The 54th season opener at Jim Nier's K-C Raceway will be pushed back until April 8, 2006. Full racing programs in four divisions are planned for April 8, 22, and 29, 2006, however, the track will not operate April 15 because of the Easter Weekend.
"Early morning sunshine and light winds gave us hope that we could race tonight (April 1)," said K-C publicist Scott Wolfe, "However, heavy cloud cover replaced the sunshine and even a few sprinkles fell. That and cooler than predicted temperatures just wouldn't let the ground dry out. We are extremely disappointed, but hope to come back with a great show for the fans Saturday, April 8, 2006."

The first special event of the year will be the Budweiser "Ohio Challenge II" featuring the World of Outlaws and All-Star Circuit of champions on May 13, 2006 . Besides signing on with World of Outlaws Sprint and Late Model Divisions, K-C will host All-Star Circuit of Champions events, AMRA modifieds, and the Crown Jewell of Dirt Late Model racing-The Dirt Track World Championship. Saturday, March 18, over thirty cars and drivers took turns hitting the track in the annual test-and-tune event. K-C Raceway releases 2006 Schedule
By Scott Wolfe

CHILLICOTHE, OHIO- K-C Raceway near Chillicothe, Ohio has announced the release of its 2006 racing schedule which opens with a March 11 Test and Tune date and an exciting season opener for all racing classes on March 25. The race is slated to be the first season opener in the area and has already created a lot of interest from teams from around the Tri-State region.
“We are anxious to get started,” said raceway owner/promoter Jimmy Nier. “We have once again tried to get an early start on the racing season, and hope the 2006 schedule has more continuity for the local racer. We are racing straight through to September with the exception of three off-nights. It should make for a great year.”
While many tracks specialize on one type of racing or at least one premier class, K-C Raceway is one of few tracks nationwide to feature the full blown 410 sprint cars and the world’s most powerful stock cars-Dirt Late Models. Additionally, K-C has two of the finest support groups in the Midwest with the AMRA Modifieds and Hobby Stock Division.
“We have scheduled early starts the past two seasons and the weather did not cooperate. We are hoping the third time is a charm in 2006,” smiled Nier. “We want to get a good start out of the gate and let fans know early that K-C Raceway is “the place” to be in 2006. K-C Raceway is going to be the place to be on a Saturday night.”
Nier added, “Our special events should once again provide some great racing. The sprints always put on a good, fast show, but last year we had several late model events go three-wide right down to the finish. That was exciting! I have had several people in the business tell me that our (2005) races provided the best action of the season. We hope we can repeat that in 2006.”
Besides signing on with World of Outlaws Sprint and Late Model Divisions, K-C will host All-Star Circuit of Champions events, AMRA modifieds, and the Crown Jewell of Dirt Late Model racing-The Dirt Track World Championship. A full racing program consists of all four above mentioned divisions.
The famed Dirt Track World Championship race will return to KC Raceway in Chillicothe, OH in 2006 and event promoters Carl Short and Dean Nardi have already started the planning stages for the 26th annual edition of one of dirt Late Model racing’s ‘crown jewel’ events. In October 2005 the 25th silver anniversary edition of the race debuted at Jim Nier’s KC Raceway to a packed house and jam-packed pits that eventually saw Scott Bloomquist win the $50,000 first place payoff.
The DTWC will be held October 19-20-21. Tickets for K-C special events are available at the K-C ticket office, while DTWC tickets are available from only the DTWC site << http://www.dtwc.net/ >>
